Today is Monday and I have a competition this coming Sunday in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the National Senior Championships and I can’t seem to reduce weight. I have been trying for over a week now and I am really stressing. This is the worst part of being an Olympic weightlifter…having to be in weight classes…ugh! What could be more perfect than battling my wicket sweet tooth and maintaining my weigh? But, I must say I have been pretty good these last couple of weeks. It seems to me that I need to tighten up my diet even more, because this is cutting it too close. If I don’t meet the weight requirement, then I won’t be able to compete. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t consider the effects of what I put into my mouth and how it may affect my weight and my performance. I must admit I do have cheat days as well as a little cheat here and there, but close to a competition is a big no-no. It is too close to the competition now and I am NOT going to be overweight (for my weight class) and be disqualified for being irresponsible!
