At the Ray Hamilton Classic Olympic Weightlifting competition in North Bay, grade 12 APGA student, Maya Laylor won gold after she broke 4 Ontario Youth Records in the Female 69kg Weight Class. Maya lifted 71kg which converts to 156lbs in the Snatch, and 93kg which converts to 205lbs in the Clean & Jerk for a total of 164kg which converts to a whopping 361lbs. She also won in two more categories for Most Improved and Best Overall Female lifter.
Maya has only been lifting for a year and a half.
